NACDS is hailing an important milestone for the INFORM Consumers Act (H.R. 5502) – passage by the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee.
The legislation would crack down on organized retail crime networks and protect consumers and retailers by promoting transparency and accountability of online marketplaces.
“Passage of the INFORM Consumers Act out of full committee shows that Congress understands the dangers pharmacies and consumers are facing, and is serious about fixing them. This is a significant, positive step toward the accountability and transparency we need,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson.
Earlier this month, NACDS expressed appreciation for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on this issue and on the Senate’s version of the legislation (S. 936). CVS Health testified at that hearing.
The INFORM Consumers Act was among the legislative priorities advanced by NACDS earlier this year during its virtual NACDS RxIMPACT Day on Capitol Hill advocacy event.
