On Wednesday, November 15, National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) President and CEO Steven C. Anderson; NACDS Senior Vice President of Health and Wellness Strategy and Policy Sara Roszak; and NACDS Director of Congressional Relations Whitney Jones; met with U.S. Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) to discuss efforts to leverage pharmacies and the total store for innovative nutrition, hunger-relief, health, and wellness solutions for all Americans.
Of note, Sen. Braun is the Ranking Member on the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. He also serves on the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; on the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions; and on the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget.
During the meeting, Anderson, Roszak and Jones described NACDS’ commitment to health and wellness innovation through the “NACDS 2023” Initiative. The “NACDS 2023” Initiative brings a “Pharmacy Plus” approach that leverages the total store for the total person. A key part of “NACDS 2023” is “Nourish My Health” — a national public health education campaign that was launched September 28 by NACDS and partner organizations on the one-year anniversary of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.
“Nourish My Health” is part of NACDS’ commitment that was highlighted at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health – an event that Sen. Braun helped to convene by virtue of his bipartisan collaboration with Congressional colleagues. “Nourish My Health” seeks to empower Americans with nutrition awareness and access, ultimately to reduce the risks of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
