The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) is observing Heart Health Month with a focus on the solutions that America’s pharmacies offer in support of preventing heart disease – which multiple entities call the leading cause of death in the United States, accounting for one-in-five lives lost, or 700,000 people, each year.
As part of NACDS’ ongoing Nourish My Health public education campaign, NACDS is showcasing participating member pharmacies and their commitment to providing heart health-related services and solutions at over 25,000 pharmacy locations across the country.
The social media campaign — “Healthy Heart Month” — demonstrates the vital role of pharmacies and pharmacists in helping communities achieve health and wellbeing during the month of February, and throughout the year.

Anderson. “With a focus on trust and convenience, pharmacies are uniquely positioned to deliver comprehensive care and to emphasize the role that nutrition plays in preventing and managing heart disease.”
Nourish My Health ‒ a collaboration with leading national health organizations ‒ was developed in 2023 as part of a national strategy to end hunger, improve nutrition and reduce disease. Nourish My Health encourages baseline health screening to understand disease risks; offers healthy food guides and nutrition information; provides resources for professionals; and hosts a nutrition security survey which informs meaningful access solutions.
In January, NACDS promoted Health Starts Here, showcasing NACDS member pharmacies and their commitment to supporting people, wherever they are on their health journey. In addition to partnering with national health organizations, NACDS member pharmacy companies are participating in Nourish My Health at select locations — leveraging scheduled wellness events, immunization clinics, and awareness events.
