In New York…
The push to put people over PBM profits continues. As the New York State Department of Financial Services works to implement that state’s new PBM reform law, the PBMs are looking for a roll-back. NACDS – along with the Community Pharmacy Association of New York State and the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York – have released a video backing the reform effort at a pivotal time. This is part of NACDS’ all-levels and all-branches of government approach to PBM reform, which prioritizes the enactment, implementation, enforcement, and oversight of reforms – in recognition of the middlemen’s predictable efforts to thwart reforms in any way possible. What happens in New York can affect actions in other states.
In the U.S. Congress…
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., NACDS is urging Congressional PBM reform champions to keep pressing to turn unprecedented momentum into action. A new TV and digital ad keeps the focus on “real reform” – that which will protect Americans on Medicare and Medicaid, and the pharmacies that serve them. While the political environment in Washington, D.C. takes sharp turn after sharp turn, NACDS is keeping the focus on the real-life reasons that PBM reform has drawn bipartisan attention, and on the exact solutions that can make it a reality.
