NACDS’ engagement on national issues of critical importance to the industry and the patients it serves continues to generate awareness among the broader national trade association community.
USAE — the only weekly community newspaper of associations, convention and visitor bureaus and hotels — quoted NACDS on the Association’s engagement in and leadership on the ongoing infant formula supply shortage:
NACDS Provides Insight for FDA During Formula Shortage
“Overall, [NACDS’] meeting with [FDA] Commissioner [Robert] Califf provided an exceptional opportunity to share how the industry is deeply engaged on this critical public health issue,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “We highlighted how pharmacies are working to help parents during this time and to communicate what more retailers need from FDA to better serve their customers.”
NACDS also appeared in a USAE article highlighting the letter NACDS and 93 other patient, public health, and state and national pharmacy groups signed to the Biden Administration urging formal clarification from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on the potential expiration of pharmacy personnel flexibilities granted during the COVID-19 pandemic:
NACDS, Pharmacy Groups Urge Continued Access to Pandemic-Related Services at Pharmacies
“Steven C. Anderson, president and CEO of NACDS and chair of the [American Society of Association Executives], argued the ability of local pharmacies to diagnose and prescribe is crucial to pandemic containment. According to the White House, approximately two out of every three American COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered at pharmacies.
“‘The access provided by pharmacies — the face neighborhood healthcare — is sorely needed; it in no way replaces physicians, but rather provides access that is otherwise impossible in the healthcare delivery system today,’ Anderson said.”
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, NACDS was recognized by the American Society of Association Executives for its advocacy for policy changes at the state and federal levels that have empowered both pharmacies’ COVID-19 response and patients’ access to some of the most trusted health and wellness access points and professionals.
The recognition underscored the heroic and ongoing work of NACDS members and pharmacy teams throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and in serving America.
NACDS continues to serve as a unifying voice for the NACDS membership, illustrating the industry’s good work on behalf of patients and consumers and advising federal and state governments on the policies necessary for pharmacies to continue meeting patients’ needs — during emergencies and every day.
Thanks to NACDS members’ vital and ongoing role in serving the American public, that work is being recognized.
