CNBC quoted NACDS on its call for the Biden Administration to maintain patients’ access to pharmacies in the effort to keep COVID-19 and flu at bay.
Other media outlets have reported in recent weeks on NACDS’ urgent advocacy, including:
- POLITICO Pulse
- Fierce Healthcare
- Healthcare Finance
- San Francisco Chronicle.
Why it matters. Concerns are rising about the lifespan of pharmacy flexibilities under the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness Act (PREP Act). The flexibilities have been extremely effective in making available vaccines and testing during the pandemic.
NACDS consistently has pressed hard on the need for Executive Branch action to keep the PREP Act flexibilities in place until October 2024.
NACDS also is urging Congressional passage of the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act (H.R. 7213) – which would help ensure Medicare patients’ access to pandemic-related services.
