Last week, the virtual NACDS Annual Meeting honored NACDS chain and supplier members for empowering America’s response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The event also created valuable opportunities for business partners to plan for the future.
On Wednesday, April 28, President Joe Biden’s address to Congress served to punctuate the discussions of the NACDS Annual Meeting – with further recognition of the role of pharmacies and pharmacy teams in the vaccination initiative.
PRESIDENTIAL REMARKS BEFORE CONGRESS. In his address to a joint session of Congress on April 28, President Joe Biden said of COVID-19 vaccinations: “we’ve gotten the vaccine to nearly 40,000 pharmacies” and that “today, 90% of Americans now live within 5 miles of a vaccination site.”
WHITE HOUSE COMMENTS TO NACDS. In remarks to NACDS Annual Meeting participants, Congressman Cedric Richmond – senior advisor to President Biden and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement – expressed appreciation to pharmacies and suppliers alike for their contributions to pandemic response and recovery.
PHARMACY RECOGNITIONS AND PATIENTS’ OPPORTUNITIES. At the NACDS Annual Meeting, NACDS Chair Colleen Lindholz, president, Kroger Health, showed government officials’ statements about pharmacies’ vital role in pandemic response, and urged collaborative approaches to diabetes, substance abuse, preventative care and more.
CONGRESSIONAL HONOR FOR PHARMACY TECHNICIAN. Congressman Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) invited a CVS Pharmacy technician “who has been instrumental in getting vaccines in arms throughout the San Fernando Valley” to be his virtual guest to last week’s Presidential address.
