Joy Bauer, MS, RDN (@joybauer), nutrition and healthy lifestyle expert for the TODAY show and the host of NBC’s Health + Happiness, and social media influencer Catherine Perez, MS, RD, LDN (@plantbasedrd), have teamed up with the NACDS Nourish My Health public education campaign to help educate their audiences about the importance of eating nutritious foods.
View below Bauer’s and Perez’s videos on Instagram demonstrating easy, healthy recipes that can help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes:
The videos complement the broader Nourish My Health initiative, part of a commitment by NACDS to the September 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and a collaboration with leading health organizations. Nourish My Health is reaching millions of Americans, including those who live in rural areas and communities that are underserved. The campaign amplifies the importance of preventive screenings and raises awareness of the power of nutritious food as a part of lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes.
In recognition of American Heart Month and as part of the broader Nourish My Health campaign, NACDS released a series of digital content showcasing the role of NACDS member pharmacies in helping patients support their heart health through prevention and management of cardiovascular disease.
Similarly, in November, in honor of National Diabetes Month, NACDS featured member pharmacies’ essential role in diabetes prevention and management through a series of social posts, which can be accessed here.
NACDS was also prominent at the February 27 “White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities” celebration event. Building on NACDS’ commitments to the September 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, the event highlighted NACDS’ second commitment to the Biden Administration, which was jointly submitted with the prestigious Milken Institute.
This new commitment outlines the NACDS’ and the Milken Institute’s collaborative work over the next year to promote scalable implementation of accessible and sustainable Food is Medicine interventions across diverse communities.
