The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee held a pivotal hearing today to examine “how reining in PBMs will drive competition and lower costs for patients.”

Witnesses included representatives from the Brookings Institution, Families USA, the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, and an independent pharmacist from Georgia.

Members of the Subcommittee voiced strong, bipartisan support for PBM reform, reinforcing the need to advance critical reforms that Congress failed to enact at the end of 2024. This hearing served as a clear signal that momentum is building for action in the 119th Congress, with lawmakers emphasizing the importance of addressing PBM practices that impact patient access and prescription drug costs.

NACDS remains committed to ensuring Congress enacts meaningful PBM reform that prioritizes patient access and pharmacy viability.
