On Wednesday, March 24, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) COVID-19 task force met with NACDS member pharmacies – including Albertsons, Southeastern Grocers, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Ahold Delhaize Pharmacy Brands (Food Lion, Giant Pharmacy, Hannaford Bros. Co., Martin’s, Stop & Shop) and The Medicine Shoppe – to discuss pharmacies’ commitment to ensuring equitable vaccine deployment and health equity.
In February, the CHC met with CVS, Kroger, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart to talk about COVID-19 vaccine equity.
Of note, during Wednesday’s meeting, CHC Chairman Raul Ruiz (D-CA) described the critical role of pharmacy in reaching socially vulnerable populations and communities in need:
“I’d like to thank the executives from Albertsons, Southeastern Grocers, Good Neighbor Pharmacy Programs & Services/AmerisourceBergen, Ahold Delhaize Pharmacy Brands, and LeaderNET/Cardinal Health who met with Congressional Hispanic Caucus Members today to express their support for an equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines and to further commit to working with our Members to reach the hardest-hit and underserved Latino communities,” said Ruiz.
