National radio tour conducted by NACDS Foundation, March of Dimes urges Americans to receive key immunizations; reaches patients in the communities where they live and work.
National pharmacy group is highly visible this week at National Association of Medicaid Directors 2020 Virtual Conference; invites Medicaid Directors and staff to interactive booth with flu-communications tools that can help reach vulnerable Americans.
NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson was interviewed by Carolyn Cawley, president, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and senior vice president, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as part of a U.S. Chamber of Commerce program titled “No Crystal Ball Needed: Keeping America Safe and Open.” The program was geared to representatives of 400 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Federation Partners, including state, metro and local chambers and business trade associations.
The guiding principles represent the commitment of the private sector to the efficient, well-coordinated distribution, allocation, and mass immunization against COVID-19 as a necessary countermeasure to the current pandemic.
“The trust and accessibility of pharmacies are essential to public health preparedness and this is another important decision that will help to reach more Americans more efficiently”.
The report outlines three goals: 1) Make hypertension control a priority; 2) Ensure that the places where people live, learn, work and play support hypertension control; and 3) Optimize patient care for hypertension control.
At a virtual industry event, NACDS' president and CEO delivered "state of the industry" remarks hailing the role of pharmacy to address COVID-19 and to confront health disparities, and calling for pro-patient and pro-pharmacy public policy.
Today, the Buy Safe America Coalition, a diverse group of retailers, consumer groups, and manufacturers who support efforts to combat organized retail crime and protect consumers and communities from the sale of counterfeit and stolen goods, announced new members including leading personal care, cosmetics and beauty brands and industry associations.
NACDS has aligned with the March of Dimes’ 2020 #BlanketChange campaign, launched today to improve the health and wellness of moms and babies through improved healthcare equity, access and prevention.
The campaign will raise awareness of tragedies such as the finding that Black women are three times more likely than white women to die from pregnancy-related causes nationwide. It will translate awareness into action on policies focused on:

NACDS’ alignment with the March of Dimes’ #BlanketChange initiative complements its ongoing focus on healthcare disparities and the social determinants of health. Most recently, NACDS has advanced these issues through its flu-vaccination communications campaign, its advocacy on COVID-19 issues, and its commitment to social justice issues.
NACDS also has engaged with thought leaders, advocates and government agencies such as the World Health Care Congress, the American Public Health Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
NACDS is showcasing its flu-vaccination awareness campaign at a National Conference of State Legislatures online event and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations is contributing its leadership to the initiative.
