June is Men’s Health Month, and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) honored the annual observance by showcasing NACDS member pharmacies’ efforts throughout the month and every day to advance men’s health and to encourage men and boys to be proactive in their health.
“NACDS’ latest digital campaign comes as part of the Association’s broader Nourish My Health public education initiative, whose mission is to amplify the importance of preventive screenings and to raise awareness of the power of nutritious food as a part of lifestyle changes to improve health outcomes,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “Pharmacies and pharmacists are highly accessible, located within five miles of 90 percent of Americans. We are proud to recognize NACDS members’ ongoing work to deliver total health and wellness solutions.”
A series of digital content on Facebook, LinkedIn and X features various NACDS member pharmacies and the critical role they play in helping men take charge of their health. View the content below and share with the official campaign hashtag, #NourishMyHealth:
A focus on men’s health is important. On average, men die five years earlier than women, and they are at higher risk for diseases including heart disease, lung cancer, and HIV. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, more than 50% of adult men have been diagnosed with hypertension and nearly 42% of adult men have been diagnosed with obesity.
A poll conducted by Morning Consult and commissioned by NACDS found that more than 8-in-10 Americans support a role for pharmacists in helping patients prevent chronic disease. See polling data for the nation and for each state.
The NACDS Nourish My Health public education campaign exists as part of a commitment by NACDS to the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health and a collaboration with leading health organizations. To date, “Nourish My Health” has achieved nearly 180 million impressions, reaching Americans across the country, including those who live in rural areas and underserved communities and focusing on regions with disproportionate risk of diet-related diseases.
In May, in recognition of Women’s Health Month and as part of the broader Nourish My Health initiative, NACDS released a series of digital content showcasing NACDS member pharmacies’ efforts to advance women’s health and to encourage women of all ages to prioritize their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
In February, in honor of American Heart Month, NACDS released digital content demonstrating NACDS member pharmacies’ role in helping patients support their heart health through prevention and management of cardiovascular disease.
Similarly, in November, in recognition of National Diabetes Month, NACDS featured member pharmacies’ essential role in diabetes prevention and management through a series of social posts, which can be accessed here.
In addition to partnering health organizations, NACDS member pharmacy companies are participating in Nourish My Health at select locations — leveraging scheduled wellness events, immunization clinics, and awareness events like Men’s Health Month.
