NACDS joined the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and 20 other patient-centered organizations and national health groups in urging pregnant individuals — along with recently pregnant, planning to become pregnant, lactating and other eligible individuals — to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Pregnant individuals are at increased risk of severe COVID-19 infection, including death. With cases rising as a result of the Delta variant, the best way for pregnant individuals to protect themselves against the potential harm from COVID-19 infection is to be vaccinated,” the groups noted in the statement.
They continued, saying, “Pregnant individuals and those planning to become pregnant should feel confident in choosing vaccination to protect themselves, their infants, their families and their communities.”
Pharmacists and pharmacy teams continue to serve the needs of the American public – providing convenient and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, point-of-care testing such as COVID-19 testing and other services.
As the nation enters another critical flu vaccination season, pharmacies stand ready to help protect patients – including pregnant individuals – against COVID-19, emerging variants and seasonal flu.
