Stew Turley

NACDS is joining with the family and friends of Stew Turley to honor a beautiful life and a brilliant career. Turley passed away on February 23, 2024. Read Turley’s recently published obituary…

Turley was the former CEO and Chairman of the Board of Eckerd Corporation. He served twice as NACDS chair, 1978-1979 and 1988-1989. In 1996, NACDS bestowed on Turley the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award and the Robert B. Begley Award.

David Pinto of Chain Drug Review editorialized fittingly on Turley’s far-reaching impact: “Turley made a transformative appearance as an industry leader and spokesman at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, the formal and formidable center of chain drug retailing in America. In so doing, he played a key role in transforming NACDS from an organization known primarily for its social presence and achievements to an association noted for its significant impact on the governmental and industry issues of the day.” Read more…

A celebration of life is planned for May 10 in Belleair, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are encouraged for The Turley Family Health Center in Belleair, FL and for Community Dental Clinic in Clearwater, FL.
