NACDS: Pharmacy Lock-In Programs Could Impact Patient Access

A recent report issued by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on pharmacy-related program-integrity efforts in state Medicaid programs found indicators of potential fraud among beneficiaries, prescribers and pharmacies with questionable patterns related to received, prescribed and dispensed drugs to Medicaid beneficiaries, costing the federal government at least $1.6 million.

Walgreens hosted a pharmacy tour for Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) on August 6, marking the 132nd RxIMPACT in-district activity of 2015. Rep. Comstock, a first-term member of Congress, is a cosponsor of H.R. 592, the pharmacist provider-status legislation. Rep. Comstock’s responsibilities on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee inspired her particular interest in the linkage between healthcare and technology as seen during the tour.
